FAQs
Can I bring my pets to your location? Yes. We provide pet care services at our Diamond Bar location. It is advantageous to avoid kennels and boarding parlors to avoid diseases, germs, and loud barking and growling which is all too common at boarding facilities. It's important to not encourage stress with traveling and kenneling.
Why should we NOT go to a boarding business or kennel? It is advantageous to avoid kennels and boarding parlors to avoid diseases, germs, and loud constant barking and growling which is all too common at boarding facilities. Drew & Belle are very knowledgeable about mass boarding facilities. The top 2 reasons are: 1) dogs are not exercised & rarely leave the windowless building 2) no supervision for 8+ hours after business hours. Ever wonder why you can't drop-off or pickup after 6:00pm? The reason is because no one is there until 7:00AM the next day.
How long are the refresher visits? Our home visits which we call Refresher Visits includes cleaning of water and food bowls, refilling water & food bowls, picking up and disposing of solid waste, and interacting with pet for 30 minutes. Standard pet sitting visits are approximately 50 minutes. However, we do not charge by time. Some "accidents" may take some time cleaning up. This is natural, and we don't penalize/charge you for accidents which may occur. What is most important to us is the well being of your pets and your home.
Who will have access to my home? All DBar Dogs members are professional, trained, insured, plus there's only 3 of us doing the home visits. We only enter the yard/outside portion of property and do not enter the dwelling. Our main purpose is 3 fold: visit the pet for walk or interaction, refill food/water, dispose of pet(s) solid waste. Only through special arrangements at request of clients will we be entering a dwelling.
What if our travel arrangements change and we are away longer than expected? That is no problem. We do ask that you notify us upon any schedule changes. However, we do plan accordingly and will continue to visit your home for Refresher Service if you do not contact us upon arrival. Our primary concern is the safety of your pets and home. Client's emergency persons will be contacted immediately after the last day of service if no response from client was established. Note below that after a few days, the pet is legally considered abandoned and no longer has an owner. We have experience at humane societies and hospitals where abandonment happens.
What about short notice service? We understand that things happen which may prevent you from returning home on time, or may require you to leave town on short notice. Many clients have to attend funerals, functions, fly away immediately and we are able to handle those situations. We are proud to always accommodate any short notice/emergency call. As long as DBar Dogs and clients expectations are aligned, we will deliver.
When do I pay for service? Cash payment is due upon arrival on the first day of service. DBar Dogs accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover via PayPal and it is to be made prior to arrival. Zelle & Venmo acceptable. paypal ID: topdog
How many visits a day will you make to my home for refresher? This is up to you. Most requested for dogs are 1 to 2 visits a day. Cats and small caged animals are mostly 1 to 2 visits daily. We happily make as many visits as requested to ensure the safety and care of your pets. It is advisable to have daily visits without skipping days. However if there is adequate room, food, and water, exceptions can be made. You never know when a water dish might have been knocked over or an accident has occurred.

FIRST TIME CLIENTS Required Minimum Stay of 4 nights depending on schedule. A mission of ours is to establish a relation with the families and dogs. With dogs that pass through for a few hours or a single night, this is not a preference we want.
Is there a minimum number of boarding days? Yes. There is a minimum stay of 4-nights. High Demand Weekends & Dates may require a 5-night minimum stay. Minimum stay of 5-nights for Thanksgiving & Christmas & New Years boarding.
Do you take cats, birds, hamsters, chinchillas, rodents, rabbits? Yes we do. We have a dedicated quiet room upstairs that is carpeted with airy window and away from the general noise of the larger animals.
What is your liability coverage? Since this is small business that was created to help our neighbors and their pets we refrain from lawsuits and inviting problems. When DBar Dogs determines it is liable, liability will be for the maximum $200. Liability results from the only the following: if pet runs off leash or pulls leash out of hands of walker and is lost or injured, if pet consumes any foreseeable foreign or poisonous object consumed on DBar Dogs Property, if pet is injured by another pet staying at DBar Dogs and was advised not to mingle/socialize pets together.
Do you take Pitbulls, Rottwiellers, Huskies or sleddog types, Dobermans, German Shepards, Shiba Inus, Staffordshire type bull Terriers, American Bull Dogs, or mixed breed that have the appearance, resemblance or characteristics of these breeds? No. English Bulldogs are lovable with their strong personalities however if they are not well socialized, snaps, barks; they will have to find another place to board. Dogs displaying poor behavior, anxiety, unable to be leashed, unable to stay in place for more than 10 seconds and be petted, snaps, growls or barks during evaluation and assessment will not be accepted. Dogs that are larger than 30 pounds will be required to be assessed. DBar Dogs has discretion to not accept pets based on several criteria.
What is the minimum age of my puppy needs to be to stay over night at Diamond Bar Dogs?
The approximate criteria is when all (3)-sets of vaccines have been given to puppy or approximately 8-10 months. We do make some exceptions to [how busy we are, how many dogs we are handling, type of dogs that will be under our care, etc) so please ask.
Do you medicate dogs? Yes . For $10 per pet per day.
What is considered medicating? Any time medicine/pills requires handling a pet. Example is placing a pill into the mouth or applying ointment to the skin. If placing a pill into food and pet will consume on it's own, there is no medicating service charge. So in summary, if we are required to touch the pet to apply the medicine, there is a medicating service charge.
Surpassing Stays & Abandoned Pets: The last day of a stay is determined by the prepaid contract end date. If only 7 days are paid in full and pet stays on the 8th day, $65 charge is assessed for each additional day. DBar Dogs allows a maximum of 5-days after the end of the prepaid contract to be extended until DBar Dogs considers pet abandoned and assumes ownership of all pet(s).
